This week’s Sydney Destination is dedicated to Vietnamese food, and there’s no other place for this matter quite like Grand Duk. a hub for modern Vietnamese eatery with a French twist. Earlier this year and thanks to Foodie Blogger Jenny Wong from See taste do, I had the pleasure of discovering this gem in Sydney”s CBD which turns out pretty convenient for those who work in the area looking for a refreshing break while enjoying a delightful lunch, equally so for visitors and travellers to the city.
Although its previous menu was still in my memory, last week I joined a blogger’s get together in this place to celebrate Grand Duk’s new season’s menu which tastes as good as it looks, just divine, a balanced choice of meals with a mix of exotic flavours and ingredients that are a symphony for the taste that will make you come back for more. Not only will the exquisite presentation enchant your senses, but their prompt service and outdoor seating with a lounge feeling complete the experience.
We started with a delicious and rich in texture selection of canapés which included pan seared scallops and cauliflower puree ..my favourites!
Rich in colour and texture, the Tuna Nicoise salad, with avocado, green bean, coral greens, and signature ” Duk fat potatoes”, capers and quail egg, makes itself a complete lunch with a good balance of veggies, protein and carbs.
For Quinoa lovers, The Lemongrass marinated Octopus with Quinoa salad, roasted peppers & nuoc cham dressing, – Light and but quite filling.
And the flavour fest went on with the Five herbs crusted barramundi
The Magret de Canard, with pan seared duck breast, potato cake, mushrooms & bordelaise sauce
Meet Amy Le, owner and mind behind Grand Duk, here proudly presenting Grand Duk’s signature Fat Chips, one of the best hot chips in Sydney for 2016 as voted by The Sydney Morning Herald…yes, they’re a big deal
And to seal a wonderful lunch… nothing like the Espresso créme Brulee with mascarpone créme and roast coffee drip filtered over vanilla gelato, such a treat whilst indulging in girls talk,
What I loved the most
I have to say this lunch at Grand Duk was one of my most enjoyable ones, but whenever I get back I plan to order
The Lemongrass marinated Octopus with Quinoa salad, roasted peppers & nuoc cham dressing as a healthy and filling choice,
The Magret de Canard
and of course the Espresso créme Brulee with mascarpone créme and roast coffee drip filtered over vanilla gelato
